After the best September in a long time, the surf went crap in France this week, so we rolled the dice and drove to Ireland. Let’s just say the gamble’s paying off.
The waves were firing here while we were in France, with one of the best sessions being last Thursday – hours before we arrived in Ireland. At first we were gutted, but after seeing this shot of Meehan, suddenly we didn’t mind so much about missing out. Apparently the next wave was just as bad and landed right on his head. Amazingly after taking one of the worst free falls ever seen at Riley’s, Meehan somehow popped up unscathed, then simply paddled in to the rocks to smoke a couple of fags. Then proceeded to paddle back out and catch a few more. Legend.
We weren’t quite so glad to miss Tom Gillespie’s bomb below though. Tommy dominating as per usual…
